Nigel Le Page
Nigel Le Page is married with two daughters. He gained a Certificate of Education at St. Paul’s College, Cheltenham and taught for several years at Elizabeth College Lower School for Boys.
Nigel was then employed for fourteen years by the Guernsey Recreation Committee, firstly as Centre Manager of Beau Sejour Leisure and Conference Centre and then as Chief Recreation Officer for the Island and as such was responsible for 240 staff; his responsibilities included advising the Committee on both operational and policy requirements for all indoor and outdoor facilities in Guernsey.
In 1990 he elected to join the commercial sector and assisted the Garenne Group in the development of a Leisure Division; in 1991 he acquired Sueco Limited, Guernsey’s leading outside catering company from Garenne and has subsequently sold that business.
Nigel set up Helen O’Grady (CI) Ltd. After a training visit to Australia, he commenced the introduction of Helen O’Grady Children’s Drama Academy in Guernsey and the UK in 1994. In 2009 he was invited to take over the world rights for Helen O’Grady and became Licensor.
Training & Management Staff
Alison joined Helen in Perth, Australia in 1986 as a trainee teacher: she was promoted in 1989 to Deputy Principal of Perth which had in excess of 1,000 students per week. She assisted Helen with franchise liaison and training and was well respected for her presentation skills at State seminars which were aimed at enriching the teaching skills of teachers and franchisees.
Alison moved to Bristol in April 1994 to assist with the UK business. She now operates the Bristol training Academy as well as training and launching new Principals. In September 1997, Alison was made a Director of Helen O’Grady (CI) Ltd.
Margaret Darley was one of the first UK Principals to launch a branch in 1994. Formerly a qualified and experienced primary school teacher, she built up a successful business with more than 450 students.
In 1997 she was invited to help with interviewing and training new Principals around the country and when, in 1999, she sold her branch and subsequently moved to the South West, she became a full time member of the management team.
Margaret is also involved with training and monitoring UK and International Principals. She chairs the Helen O’Grady curriculum group, working with Training Supervisor, Susannah Gill, and different volunteer Principals each term to update existing, and develop new, curriculum for the Academy.
In 2009, Margaret was one of four teachers to pilot the introduction of an engaging preschool programme – Kindy Drama. She has now been running weekly classes in her area for six years and continues to train more Principals as the programme becomes more widely available around the country.
After graduating from The Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, Susannah moved to Australia and graduated as a primary school teacher. It was when in Queensland that she first applied to be a teacher in the local branch, but unfortunately, the hours did not fit in with her day job!
On returning to England, she opened the Bournemouth branch and enjoyed running it for many years. As her children grew older, she became a Training Supervisor and enjoys helping Principals develop their skills, both as self-development experts, and as business people. Susannah is also involved in helping expand our curriculum so that we can continue delivering our world class lessons.
Becky joined the academy in 2004 as a teacher, then as a Vice-Principal and now as Principal and has seen the academy grow from strength to strength.
She runs the South Wales branch and works closely with Alison, the Executive Principal and Nigel, the National Director, to ensure the highest standard of tuition for students in South Wales.
Becky also assists in the training and support of Principals throughout the UK and mentors a number of Franchisees passing onto them her experience and expertise on all aspects relating to the running of a Helen O’Grady Drama Academy Franchise.
Beth is our newest Training Supervisor having joined the team in 2013. Her high levels of energy and enthusiasm for her own academy and the Helen O’Grady self-development programme lead her to being an excellent choice for the position.
She has been running the North Leicestershire branch since 2010 and is leading a strong team of teachers to ensure the success of the academy continues to grow.
Beth is also a mentor for other Franchisees across the UK and supports them with the running of their own academies.
